Morochians of the Month: May 2015

It’s long overdue that we nominate Sally Soames for Morochian of the Month. Sally joined the accounting discipline with no prior experience in accounting but we could tell she was smart, had a great attitude and was eager to take ownership of whatever challenges we were ready to throw at her. Since she joined our team, she has consistently exceeded expectations from a group that is not easy to please or impress.

In a short time, she begun taking on additional responsibility of supervising other employees. She ­is the example of what it means to be a Morochian.  She has always embodied the “respect everyone and everything,” “attack the problem, not the person” and “talk about solutions rather than problems” beliefs that we try to live by.

In 2014, Moroch Holdings Inc. had over $420 million in annual billings over the now eight companies we manage. It is Sally’s responsibility to handle all of the company receivables, and make sure money is applied quickly and accurately. She is in constant contact with both internal and external clients, and does a difficult job with a smile on her face every day. Our A/R books have never looked better, averaging less than 0.5 percent over 120 days outstanding over the course of the last year.

 

Leigh SmithLeigh Smith

Brand Planner, Dallas

Nine months ago, Leigh Smith was promoted to the position of Brand Planner, and rightfully so. Leigh has quickly risen to the demands of her new role, keeping up with day-to-day needs of the business, while simultaneously looking out for trends that may impact a client’s brand and business in the future. There’s no magic crystal ball, so Leigh takes constant vigilance and investigation of the world our client’s live in.

Shepherding the Baylor Scott & White, Dollar Tree, Wilsonart, Visionworks and McDonald’s brands has not stopped Leigh from stepping up for additional assignments. From leading development of the brand planning discipline agency video, to helping out teams competing in the 4A’s Institute for Advanced Advertising Studies, Leigh always finds time to lend a hand.

Leigh brings a positive attitude, a collaborative spirit, great energy, and yes, those “aha!” moments.

 

Carly HewittCarly Hewitt

Senior Account Executive, Rochester

Carly has become a great leader in the Rochester Co-op, as well as NEPA, which she began working on this past November. She took on responsibilities for this new market, Northeastern Pennsylvania, as part of an effort to help the Philadelphia office, which needed additional hands on deck. Carly jumped right in, attending client meetings and executing programs immediately. She immediately established a solid working relationship with the corporate client.

Carly excels at managing creative projects and social media, and has proved invaluable both in the Rochester market and Philadelphia market. She’s a team player, always willing to provide the leadership and hands-on knowledge to get things done effectively, and on time. Even though many things on her plate in both her markets are not in her “job description,” Carly is always willing to help out for the good of the team and the health of the business. She has established strong working relationships with challenging clients, and they respect her work ethic and her point of view. She is frequently sought out by our clients to offer her thoughts on targeting our millennial consumer, and her opinions are highly respected. When faced with challenging situations, Carly is always one to offer solutions rather than complain, and continuously exceeds expectations. She is a person of integrity and maturity beyond her years, yet at the same time incredibly fun! She makes it a pleasure to come to work each day in our small office, and I know her team members in Philadelphia are thankful for her as well.

While things have been tougher than usual, I credit much of our strong client relationship to the fact that Carly has been a trusted resource. An example of this is her recent support during the April 15th ROC for $15 Day that occurred in our market. She was instrumental in disseminating timely updates regarding store protests and acted as a resource for the operators in the days leading up, as well as during the protest. She kept her “ears to the ground,” providing updates on protest plans she found on social media, notifying operators and acting as a true partner for our clients to help them through a very difficult day. Our operators truly appreciate and respect Carly as she is a major factor in the strong relationships we have been able to maintain in our Co-op.

 

 TinaTina Petro

Account Executive, Philadelphia

Tina Petro represents those special individuals that keep the wheels turning as the leadership teams are off fighting the daily challenges of this business. Tina’s responsibilities include a wide variety of business and communications, both internal and external. She is the cog in the wheel that literally sits the team down and details everything that has to happen internally to execute each and every promotion that we bring to market. From the traffic details, to the POP development, to the Digital application and beyond. She also is solely responsible for the development of each and every McSource that comes down the path, often times getting it way early because of her connections. Tina is so well connected with the national suppliers that if there is an issue or concern about timing or details, Tina has the connections to make things happen that normally would not! She gets the heads up on creative information, traffic information and POP information, all because she has developed and nurtured long-term relationships with key suppliers.

What sets Tina apart is how she embodies virtually every belief that we hold dear at Moroch. Tina is respectful, honest, has high integrity and she always, always is on top of what has to be done, finding solutions for problems, taking ownership, and looking for ways to improve the process. Tina has also learned and grown to absorb a tremendous number of new responsibilities so she could be the consummate team player. She constantly will take the time to help other members of the team with any project. She is also an absolute love of the clients, especially those that are into the details. They love to call Tina because she can always provide or get the answer they need to plan their execution. An example of Tina’s leadership is this past month when she looked ahead to all of the programs that the Co-op was going to be running within a two month period and took it upon herself to develop the work that would be posted in the restaurants. She successfully completed a POP kit that included multiple elements, working through all of the creative, legal and client approvals, insuring that the agency was fairly compensated and that the client realized tremendous efficiencies. This is just one of many examples of how Tina’s role in our agency is so meaningful. In a business that can often relegate personnel to “cookie cutter” performance, she exceeds expectation, takes smart risks, and provides our office with a driving force that insures the leadership can go out and do what needs to be done, because Tina will be there to execute the vision.
